By Ramesh Chavan and Rajesh Chavan-SikandarajanThe Indian Express (India), September 10, 2020—The wife of Indian telecom operator Tiger Electronics Chairman Prabhakar Sharma has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly embezzling Rs 1.5 crore from the company’s accounts, police said on Tuesday.
The arrest comes a day after Sharma and his wife, Prabhansha Sharma, were arrested in a raid by the Maharashtra State Industrial Crime Investigation Bureau (MISA) on a farmhouse in Nagpur district of Maharashtra on Sunday.
According to sources in the Maharashtra police, Prabsha Sharma was arrested on Sunday night.
A senior police official told the Indian Express that Sharma’s wife, who works as a maid in Mumbai, was arrested along with two other employees of Tiger Electronics who were allegedly involved in the embezment.
Police sources said Prabbhansha was arrested and remanded in judicial custody till Wednesday, while Prabakar was arrested late on Tuesday night and remanded to a judicial house in Mumbai.
In September, police arrested Prabkaran in connection with the embesis of Rs 5 crore worth of telecom spectrum in Hyderabad in February this year, and had filed a case against him in connection.
The MISA had on Saturday arrested two Tiger Electronics employees for allegedly making false documents in a petition filed in Hyderabadi High Court against Tiger Electronics.
The telecom company’s board has also been asked to probe the matter.
